Simply Khakhi

E. N. Rammohan

When a young colleague described Rammohan as “a policeman with a khaki soul,” she summed up the philosophy that E.N. Rammohan, the police officer and author of this book, has lived by throughout his career.

During the thirty-five years he spent in the civil service, E. N. Rammohan, an IPS officer of the 1965 batch, has shouldered a wide range of responsibilities with different organizations. In Simply Khaki he describes his fascinating and thrilling experiences – from tackling insurgency in the North East, militancy in Kashmir, heading the training institute for young officers and probationers, to being an advisor to the government of India. Every posting that Rammohan has had has yielded rich rewards. He has the satisfaction of having undertaken and completed every assignment to the best of his ability. He takes pride in that he was able to gain the confidence of the common people who were suspicious of any uniform, and provide support and inspiration to a well-intentioned but demoralised force.

E. N. Rammohan's completely honest account makes for an engrossing, if somewhat disturbing read.
